What do you think this sort of backup?

If that is the entire backup strategy I think it is very poor, as
there are no regular transaction log backups. A differential backup
is just a shortcut to a full database backup, and can only restore to
the moment that the backup was taken. Log backups allow point in time
recovery. Can you really afford to loose a day's work? Unless the
data is not important enough to protect you want log backups.
Also consider that you want backups going back longer than a week. And
copies of backups that are stored off-site for disaster recovery. And
backups of the master database to go with the application database.
I came across a clever overview of backup issues a few years ago. It
is partly an advertisement for a backup product, and not aimed at
databases, but the underlying philosophy it conveys is pretty good.
You might want to read it.

How much disk space is available?
Are you writing locally, or to a SAN?
The answers to these and posibally other) questions will help you make a
decision.
If resources are available, I always prefer full backups along with the
transaction logs.
